You should know about birthright citizenship and Wong Kim Ark.

Wong Kim Ark was born in California to Chinese immigrants in 1873. In 1884, Wong Kim Ark left for China, bringing all the documentation he assumed to need when he returned. However, when he came back to the United States in 1895, he was denied re-entry.

Aided by the Chinese Consolidated Benevolent Association, Wong Kim Ark he argued that he was a lawful U.S. resident and a citizen by birthright under the 14th Amendment's citizenship clause. In the case United States v. Wong Kim Ark, the Supreme Court ruled in favor of Wong Kim Ark, guaranteeing citizenship to anyone born in the U.S. regardless of their parents' immigration status.

January 31 Ring in the Year of the Snake with the Nashville Symphony’s 2nd Annual Lunar New Year Celebration, conducted by Ming Luke and featuring soloist Susan Yang!

Join us for our Holiday Potluck!

Join us for our regular Third Thursday social at Motif on Music Row! This month, we'll be having our annual holiday party. It'll be a potluck so feel free to bring a dish and anything you'd like to drink.

Logistics

• Motif on Music Row is at 50 Music Square W, Nashville, TN 37203.

• Upon arriving at the property, guests should turn onto Chet Atkins Place in front of the hotel. They can park in the valet lane, hand their keys to the valet, and proceed up the ramp to the front desk to pay for parking. Street parking is also available. From there, they can take the elevator to the 3rd floor, turn right at the pool, and then left at room 321. Continue to the end of the hallway to reach the pool lounge.
